Pixellu is Now SmartAlbums Inc: Our New Name, Same Great Software

In 2026, we officially changed our company name from Pixellu LLC to SmartAlbums Inc. Our website has also moved from pixellu.com to smartalbums.com. If you've always known us as SmartAlbums, this update simply makes it official.

SmartAlbums Inc is the same company, the same team, and the same software that photographers have trusted for over 12 years to design professional photo albums.

Why Did Pixellu Change Its Name to SmartAlbums?

When we started the company, "Pixellu" was the company name and "SmartAlbums" was the product name, similar to how Adobe makes Photoshop. That structure made sense to us, but it never clicked with photographers. For over a decade, we heard the same thing: "I love SmartAlbums, but what is Pixellu?"

The pattern repeated when we launched our gallery product. We called it "Pixellu Galleries," but photographers called it "SmartGalleries." We never used that name, but our customers did. So we renamed it.

Over 80% of our users use SmartAlbums. Everything photographers know about us has "Smart" in it. The only thing with "Pixellu" in it was our company name, and it never resonated with our customers. So we made the name match the brand photographers already know and trust.

What Does This Mean for SmartAlbums Users?

Nothing changes on your end. Same software, same team, same support. Your subscription, your projects, and your account are all exactly where you left them. You'll just see "SmartAlbums" where "Pixellu" used to appear.

About the Name "Pixellu"

"Pixellu" was a word we created by combining "Pixel" with "luz," the Spanish word for light. Pixel and light, for a photography company. It was a solid name. It just never stuck with the people who matter most: our customers.
